Therapy and Service Dogs for Veterans & First Responders

Four Legged Angels, is a compassionate and dedicated non-profit organization committed to rescuing puppies primarily from last chance shelters and providing vital support to Veterans and First Responders through the transformative power of service, therapy and comfort dogs.

Our Veterans and First Responders have demonstrated unwavering courage and commitment in safeguarding our communities and defending our freedoms. However, many of them face unique challenges as they transition to civilian life. Physical injuries, emotional trauma, and mental health issues can create significant hurdles on their path to recovery. That's where Four Legged Angels steps in.

Our organization is on a mission to enhance the lives of these remarkable individuals by pairing them with highly trained Service, Therapy and Comfort dogs at zero cost to them. These incredible canine companions offer not only practical assistance with daily tasks but also serve as a source of unwavering comfort and companionship. The healing bond between our heroes and their Four Legged Angels has a profound impact on their well-being and quality of life.

Veterans and First Responders in the program have to attend in-person training sessions with their dogs to show that they are responsible pet owners and committed to the program. This gives the opportunity to physically get up in the morning, put shoes on, work a dog and take care of something. They also get to meet other Veterans and First Responders in the program, to know they are not alone. “This gives them a purpose in life.”

Four Legged Angels was founded by the owner of Professional Canine Services Charles Young. In his professional career, he was employed by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years. He went through three K-9 academies and was assigned full time to the Massachusetts State Police Narcotics Unit/District Attorney's Office for 11 years. Charlie then became a certified K-9 trainer completing one of the top K-9 Decoy training schools in the country. He has trained over 140-plus Law Enforcement K-9 teams throughout Massachusetts, certifying K-9 teams in Narcotics, Firearms/Ballistics, Cell Phones, Patrol/Apprehension and Search & Rescue. He is also a certified evaluator for the American Kennel Club.
